| Description | GlycoErase™ G6PC1 knockout HEK293 cell line is a human embryonic kidney (HEK293) model in which G6PC1 expression has been eliminated. G6PC1 encodes the catalytic subunit of glucose-6-phosphatase, a critical enzyme for glucose homeostasis that hydrolyzes glucose-6-phosphate to glucose and phosphate in gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis. Mutations in G6PC1 cause glycogen storage disease type I (von Gierke disease), characterized by hypoglycemia and abnormal glycogen accumulation. The knockout of G6PC1 in the HEK293 background provides a human-relevant system for investigating glucose regulation, metabolic control, and glycogen storage disorders, while supporting translational research and therapeutic development in metabolic and genetic diseases. |
