Introduction
The chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is the major cause of Chikungunya. Chikungunya virus is a member of the alphavirus genus, and Togaviridae family. The virus is spread between people by two types of mosquitos: Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti. The virus may circulate within a number of animals including birds and rodents.
