GlycoErase™ PPP1CA Knockout Glycoengineered Cell (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF55)

Datasheet
SizeQtyAdd To Basket
1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ PPP1CA knockout glycoengineered cell removes the alpha catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1), a serine/threonine phosphatase regulating glycogen metabolism, muscle contractility, cell division, and transcription. Dysregulation links to heart failure, diabetes, and cancer. This model supports broad studies of phosphatase biology and disease.

Availability Status Made to order
Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target PPP1CA
Full Name Protein Phosphatase 1 Catalytic Subunit Alpha
Alternative Name PP1A; PP-1A; PPP1A; PP1alpha
Location 11q13.2
Gene ID 5499
Summary The protein encoded by this gene is one of the three catalytic subunits of protein phosphatase 1 (PP1). This broadly expressed gene encodes the alpha subunit of the PP1 complex that associates with over 200 regulatory proteins to form holoenzymes which dephosphorylate their biological targets with high specificity. PP1 is a serine/threonine specific protein phosphatase known to be involved in the regulation of a variety of cellular processes, such as cell division, glycogen metabolism, muscle contractility, protein synthesis, and HIV-1 viral transcription. Increased PP1 activity has been observed in the end stage of heart failure. Studies suggest that PP1 is an important regulator of cardiac function and that PP1 deregulation is implicated in diabetes and multiple types of cancer. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
