RADA-16 (VCar-Ly044)
A synthetic amphiphilic peptide, MW 1670.77.
Type
Self-assembling Peptides
Applications
For the entrapment and gradual release of small molecules and proteins.
Introduction
RADA-16 peptides form highly hydrated hydrogels, allowing for the entrapment and gradual release of small molecules and proteins. When Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) mixed with RADA-16 hydrogel, it has been found to accelerate wound healing due to the effective release of EGF. Moreover, RADA peptides were capable of disrupting prion aggregation in prion infected hamster brains.
