Introduction
Plasmodium fragile is a pathogen of simian malaria corresponding to the human malaria pathogen Plasmodium falciparum, which has similar characteristics to Plasmodium falciparum, such as high virulence, deep circulation schizogony and sequestration, heavy pigmentation, no marked enlargement of host cell and lack of true Relapses. The infection of monkeys by P. fragile is similar to that of P. falciparum.
