Bovine Astrovirus Vaccine

The exploration and research of pathogens is the basis of vaccine research, especially for potentially risking agents. Creative Biolabs is an expert in vaccine research. We have developed a comprehensive vaccine research landscape that not only focuses on vaccine development and improvement of known pathogens but also on newly discovered pathogens that may be threatened in the future. Since we are always at the forefront of industry development, we are always able to contribute to the progress in the development of the vaccines, and in turn, we also become a reliable helper for the global vaccine researchers.

Bovine Astrovirus and Neurologically Disease

Star-like astroviruses have been widely recognized as the causative agent of childhood diarrhea and gastroenteritis, but recently, more and more data show that the family's virus is involved in the pathogenesis of encephalitis and meningitis in humans and other animals. Bovine astrovirus (BoAstV) shares similar shape and gene structure with other viruses in the family, and in the near future, applications of NGS have found that BoAstV CH13 or BoAstV NeuroS1 is present in the brain of cattle with non-suppurative encephalitis and the viruses are collectively referred to as BoAstV Ch13/NeuroS1. Some retrospective studies have also found that BoAstV CH13/NeuroS1 is present in a certain proportion of cattle with non-suppurative encephalitis. These results provide a basis for establishing a link between BoAstV and the disease, but further research is needed to finalize this relationship.

Development of Vaccines against BoAstV

For the time being, the role of bovine astrovirus in severe bovine diseases has not yet been determined. Existing knowledge points to the fact that astrovirus can cause diarrhea and gastroenteritis, but a growing body of evidence obtained from cases those have been analyzed in countries such as the United States and Switzerland indicates that BoAstV may be associated with a neurological disease in cattle. Therefore, in-depth research on the virus is of significant necessary. The identification of viral antigen molecules not only contributes to the detection of viruses and the diagnosis of virus-related diseases but also serves as the basis for viral vaccine research, which is also beneficial for accelerating the development of BoAstV vaccines.
