Canine Adenovirus Type 1 (CAV-1) Vaccine

Creative Biolabs is a leader in the field of vaccine development and has focused on the viral vaccines for years. We have experienced experts and advanced platforms that are able to provide excellent services for viral vaccine development services for canine adenovirus type 1 (CAV-1). We guarantee the finest results for our customers all over the world.

Canine adenovirus (CAV) is the most pathogenic virus in the mammalian Adenovirus genus. There are two serotypes, of which type I can cause canine infectious hepatitis (acute septicaemia characterized by central necrosis of liver lobules, inclusion of liver parenchymal cells and nucleus of cortical cells) and fox encephalitis, thus is also known as fox encephalitis and canine infectious hepatitis. Type II can cause canine infectious laryngotracheitis and enteritis. This disease is not only prevalent in domestic dogs and foxes in China and around the world, but also widely popular in wild foxes, bears, coyotes, and raccoons. This disease can occur all year round. Dogs and foxes of all genders, ages and breeds are prone to infection. However, animals around one year old have the highest morbidity and mortality rates.

The Inactivated CAV-1 Vaccine

Inactivated CAV-1 vaccines can be made up of whole viruses, bacteria, or fragments that break up into lytic vaccines. The production of the lysis CAV-1 vaccine is further purified to dislodge the microorganisms until the vaccine contains only the required antigenic components (such as pneumococcal polysaccharides). It can be a protein vaccine or a polysaccharide vaccine. Protein CAV-1 vaccines include toxoid (inactivated bacterial toxin) and subunit vaccines. Most polysaccharide vaccines consist of cell wall polysaccharides from bacterial purification. The effects of this vaccine are easy to control and stable between batches.

The Recombinant Attenuated Vaccine for CAV-1

CAV-1 infection is an acute infectious disease, which mainly infects dogs and foxes, causing canine infectious hepatitis and fox encephalitis. The transmission route is mainly through secretions of sick dogs and virus carrier dogs, such as saliva and feces. The advantages of the recombinant attenuated CAV-1 vaccine are that the pathogen can reproduce in immunized animals, low dosage, good immunogenicity, long immunization period and low cost.
