GlycoFlux™ human GBE1 overexpression Raji cell line is a stable cell line engineered to overexpress GBE1, a glycogen branching enzyme that transfers α-1,4-linked glucosyl units to α-1,6 positions, introducing branch points in glycogen. This branching increases glycogen solubility and reduces osmotic pressure in cells, with highest enzyme levels found in liver and muscle. Mutations in GBE1 cause glycogen storage disease IV (Andersen's disease). This model enables research on glycogen architecture, enzyme deficiency, and therapeutic strategies for glycogen storage disorders.

Product Disclaimer
This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
The protein encoded by this gene is a glycogen branching enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of alpha-1,4-linked glucosyl units from the outer end of a glycogen chain to an alpha-1,6 position on the same or a neighboring glycogen chain. Branching of the chains is essential to increase the solubility of the glycogen molecule and, consequently, in reducing the osmotic pressure within cells. Highest level of this enzyme are found in liver and muscle. Mutations in this gene are associated with glycogen storage disease IV (also known as Andersen's disease).
