ST6GAL2 knockout HepG2 cell line lacks ST6GAL2 protein, ST6 beta-galactoside alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase 2, a sialyltransferase in liver cells. ST6GAL2 knockout in HepG2 cells enables study of sialylation disruption in liver cancer, potentially affecting sialylation of oligosaccharide substrates on hepatocytes and sialic acid related pathways relevant to liver tumor biology.
