GlycoFlux™ human POMC overexpression HEK293 cell line is a stable glycoengineered line that constitutively overexpresses proopiomelanocortin (POMC), a secretory preprohormone cleaved by prohormone convertases into ACTH, β-lipotropin, and additional bioactive peptides in a tissue-dependent manner. This model enables controlled interrogation of peptide processing, secretory-pathway capacity, and how glycosylation-dependent sorting/trafficking steps (e.g., ER-Golgi transit, cargo receptor engagement) shape peptide stability and yield, supporting formulation and media screens for optimized hormone bioproduction.

Product Disclaimer
This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
This gene encodes a preproprotein processed in a tissue-specific manner by prohormone convertases, producing up to ten active peptides. In the pituitary, major products include adrenocorticotrophin and beta-lipotropin, while in other tissues, peptides regulate pain, pigmentation, immunity, and energy balance. Mutations are linked to early-onset obesity, adrenal insufficiency, and red hair pigmentation.
