GlycoFlux™ Human PYGM Overexpression HEK293 Cell Line

CAT#: GLJF-0925-JF480

Datasheet Request COA
Overview
Description
GlycoFlux™ human PYGM overexpression HEK293 cell line is a stable cell line engineered to express PYGM, the muscle isoform of glycogen phosphorylase critical for glycogen breakdown in skeletal tissue. Variants in this gene underlie McArdle disease (glycogen storage disease V), a disorder of exercise intolerance and muscle energy failure. By modeling PYGM overexpression, this system provides a valuable tool to study muscle glycogen metabolism, energy regulation during contraction, and therapeutic approaches for metabolic myopathies.

Summary
This gene encodes the muscle isoform of glycogen phosphorylase, essential for glycogen breakdown in muscle tissue. Variants in this gene result in McArdle disease (myophosphorylase deficiency), a muscle glycogen storage disorder. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript forms.
