Product Description L-Leucine, 13C6 for SILAC is a stable isotope-labeled form of the essential amino acid L-leucine, wherein all six carbon atoms are replaced with the stable isotope carbon-13. This fully labeled amino acid is crucial for stable isotope labeling by amino acids in cell culture (SILAC) experiments, a quantitative proteomics technique. By supplementing cell culture media with L-leucine, 13C6, researchers enable cells to incorporate the labeled leucine into newly synthesized proteins. This incorporation results in a predictable mass shift detectable by mass spectrometry, allowing for precise differentiation and quantification of proteins from different experimental conditions.

Application L-Leucine, 13C6 for SILAC is a stable isotope-labeled form of the amino acid L-leucine. It is used in SILAC experiments, a mass spectrometry-based technique for quantitative proteomics. In SILAC, cells are grown in a medium containing L-leucine, 13C6, which is incorporated into all newly synthesized proteins. This results in a "heavy" form of the protein, which can be distinguished from the "light" form of the protein (from cells grown in a normal medium) by mass spectrometry. SILAC is used to compare protein expression levels between different cell states, such as normal and diseased cells.
