| Description | GlycoFlux™ human AMY1A overexpression Raji cell line is a stable cell line engineered to overexpress AMY1A, a salivary α-amylase isoenzyme that hydrolyzes 1,4-α-glucosidic bonds in starch and glycogen, catalyzing the first step in dietary carbohydrate digestion. The human genome contains a cluster of amylase genes highly expressed in salivary glands or pancreas, and AMY1A encodes a salivary isoform. This model is useful for exploring extracellular amylase function in lymphoma cells, nutrient availability, and tumor-microenvironment interactions related to carbohydrate metabolism. |

| Summary | Amylases are secreted proteins that hydrolyze 1,4-alpha-glucoside bonds in oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, and thus catalyze the first step in digestion of dietary starch and glycogen. The human genome has a cluster of several amylase genes that are expressed at high levels in either salivary gland or pancreas. This gene encodes an amylase isoenzyme produced by the salivary gland. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein. |
