The EDGT knockout IST-Mes2 cell line lacks EDGT protein, an EGF domain-specific O-GlcNAc transferase. EDGT mediates O-GlcNAc modification of extracellular EGF domain proteins. In IST-Mes2 cells, EDGT knockout can elucidate O-GlcNAc's role in Pleural Mesothelioma relevant EGF signaling, cell-cell interactions, and microenvironment modulation via altered EGF domain protein glycosylation.

Full Name
EGF domain specific O-linked N-acetylglucosamine transferase
Catalyzes the transfer of N-acetylglucosamine to serine/threonine residues of proteins destined for the extracellular environment, a key step in N-linked glycosylation.
