Phosphorylase kinase is a complex with subunits alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. The alpha subunit has isoforms in muscle and liver, with the skeletal muscle isoform encoded by this gene. Mutations cause glycogen storage disease type 9D. Several isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
