CE is the key Glycan Tool Enzyme for lactose-to-lactulose conversion, while CE revolutionizes sustainable bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass by transforming agricultural waste into high-value products. Our custom CE production services exploit its unique reversible epimerization activity to convert cellobiose into xylobiose or rare sugars, bridging low-cost feedstocks with premium bio-based chemicals such as prebiotics, pharmaceutical intermediates, and biodegradable polymers. Unlike wild-type variants, our engineered CE enzymes offer unparalleled regioselectivity and industrial-scale stability, ensuring consistent performance in large-scale biorefineries. By partnering with us, clients gain access to tailored CE solutions that accelerate circular economy transitions, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and meet stringent sustainability targets across food, energy, and advanced materials sectors.

We employ cutting-edge molecular dynamics (MD) simulations as a powerful tool to identify flexible loops within the Epimerase structure. Additionally, these simulations enable us to pinpoint potential sites that are suitable for rigidification through targeted mutations.
Once we have optimized the enzyme sequences through in silico modeling, we proceed to synthesize these optimized sequences with high precision. Subsequently, we clone these synthesized sequences into high-efficiency expression hosts.
To evaluate the performance of the enzyme variants, we employ high-throughput screening techniques. Using automated micro-bioreactors, we screen these variants for their thermostability, which is a key factor in determining their suitability for industrial applications.
After identifying the top-performing enzyme with high-throughput screening, we transition it to a larger-scale fermentation process. By conducting fermentation on a larger scale, we can better understand how the enzyme performs under real-world industrial conditions and make any necessary adjustments to optimize its production.
Before the final enzymes are ready for commercial use, they undergo rigorous quality control and characterization procedures. Through comprehensive quality control and characterization steps, we ensure that the final enzymes meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Discover How We Accelerate Research Breakthroughs!
By epimerizing cellobiose into epilactose, CE accelerates lignocellulosic biomass degradation, lowering energy/chemical demands in biofuel production. This supports the sustainable conversion of agricultural waste into renewable energy sources like bioethanol.
CE modifies lactose into epilactose, improving dairy creaminess and reducing lactose content for intolerant consumers. Its rare sugar derivatives also act as natural sweeteners/humectants, extending shelf life and enabling clean-label formulations.
CE-generated tagatose and epilactose selectively boost beneficial gut bacteria, producing short-chain fatty acids that enhance immunity and metabolism. This drives innovation in prebiotic-rich functional foods and nutraceuticals.
Engineered CE variants with improved stability and substrate specificity enable efficient biocatalysis in harsh conditions (e.g., high temperatures, extreme pH). This expands its use in biorefineries, pharmaceutical synthesis, and eco-friendly chemical manufacturing.
Partnering with Us to Achieve Your Scientific Goals!
High Stability
"Using custom CE in our research has significantly facilitated our high-temperature isomerization trials. The R17Q variant maintained activity at 75°C far longer than the wild-type we previously used, allowing for much cleaner batches."- 14 months ago, Prof. M***e L.
Significant Effect
"The reduction in glucose-byproduct formation using engineered epimerase in our prebiotic research area has been impressive. It simplified our HPLC purification steps immensely compared to traditional alkaline methods."- 6 months ago, Prof. M***e S.
