GlycoErase™ AMY1A Knockout HEK293 Cell Line

CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF380

Datasheet Request COA
Overview
Description
GlycoErase™ AMY1A knockout HEK293 cell line is a human embryonic kidney (HEK293) model lacking AMY1A expression. AMY1A encodes a salivary isoform of alpha-amylase, a secreted enzyme responsible for hydrolyzing 1,4-alpha-glucosidic bonds in dietary starch and glycogen, initiating carbohydrate digestion. The knockout of AMY1A in the HEK293 background provides a unique tool to study human digestive enzyme biology, regulation of polysaccharide breakdown, and extra-pancreatic expression of amylase, while supporting applications in metabolic research, enzyme replacement therapy modeling, and carbohydrate processing analysis.

Summary
This salivary gland amylase isoenzyme hydrolyzes 1,4-alpha-glucoside bonds in carbohydrates, initiating starch and glycogen digestion. It is part of a gene cluster expressed at high levels in salivary glands or pancreas. Alternative splicing generates identical protein products.
