Description
Inositol 1,3,4,6-tetrakisphosphate (Ins(1,3,4,6)P4) is an important hydrophilic second messenger that functions as an intermediate in the complex metabolic pathways that generate the higher inositol polyphosphates, ultimately leading to Inositol hexakisphosphate (InsP6 or phytic acid). Ins(1,3,4,6)P4 is produced through the phosphorylation of Ins(1,3,4)P3 by Ins(1,3,4)P3 5,6-kinase and is further phosphorylated by Ins(1,3,4,6)P4 5-kinase to form Ins(1,3,4,5,6)P5.
