DMPG (14:0/14:0 PG)

1,2-Dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoglycerol, sodium salt (DMPG) is a type of phosphatidylglycerol (PG), a minor constituent of most cell membranes. It can be present at higher levels in lung surfactant. Its presence in the amniotic fluid is an indicator of fetal lung maturation and forms the basis for clinical fetal fitness testing. PG also serves as a cellular intermediate for the creation of cardiolipin.
