The GlycoSens™ Aldehyde Dehydrogenase (ALDH) Activity Assay Kit provides a robust, high-precision analytical assay platform engineered for quantification of target aldehyde dehydrogenase activity in varied biological matrices. Featuring a streamlined protocol, it delivers outstanding linearity and operational speed for routine biochemical assays.
Product Type
Coenzyme I Series
Target
ALDH
Kit Components
Sample Lysis Buffer; Substrate; Detection Reagent; Standard
Sample Types
Tissues, other biological samples
Sample Volume
50 μL
Detection Principle
The assay relies on the distinct spectroscopic optical characteristics of aldehyde dehydrogenase activity. Upon reaction with specialized chromogenic reagents, the resulting optical density shifts measured at target wavelengths directly reflect ALDH activity in the sample.
Detection Time
Within 45 minutes
Required Equipment & Materials (Self-provided by User)
Visible Spectrophotometer or Microplate Reader, glass/quartz cuvettes, microcentrifuge, water bath/incubator, adjustable micropipettes, double-distilled water.
Storage
Store at -20°C.

Shipped with ice packs.
Target Information
Full Name
Aldehyde Dehydrogenase
Alternate Names
Dehydrogenase; ALDH; Oxidoreductase
Application Notes
Background
Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activity is an integral element required for robust cellular function and metabolism. It is responsible for driving the oxidative conversion of its substrate, typically utilizing NAD or FAD as cofactors. As a result, consequently, robust measurement of this parameter is highly beneficial for comprehensive functional profiling.
Application
Essential for monitoring aldehyde dehydrogenase activity level shifts during molecular biochemistry, metabolic pathway flux analysis, and enzymology studies.
Key Features & Advantages
Rapid Execution; Flexible Sample Inputs; Highly Reproducible Data
Operating Instructions
1. Pre-Centrifugation of Vials: Prior to opening any reagent vials, perform a brief centrifugation to collect all powder or liquids at the bottom of the tubes.
2. Reagent Equilibration & Mixing: Allow all kit reagents and buffers to equilibrate to room temperature (25 °C) before initiating the assay.
3. Sample Storage: If samples are not assayed immediately, please store at -80 °C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
