Carbohydrate-based Surfactant Products

They are naturally biosynthesized within living cells, or chemical synthesis by sequential reactions using carbohydrate and fatty materials, through one or several bonds. Carbohydrate-based surfactants are gaining increased attention due to advantages with regard to performance, health of consumer and environmental compatibility compared to some standard products. Moreover, studies have shown that carbohydrate-based surfactants with specific modifications are able to incorporate biological functionalities, such as antibacterial activity.
