1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoFlux™ human SIGLEC5 overexpression A549 cell line is a stable epithelial model engineered to express SIGLEC5, a CD33-related sialic acid-binding lectin that inhibits monocyte, macrophage, and neutrophil activation. Its recognition of sialylated ligands and bacterial pathogens such as Group B Streptococcus (GBS) highlights roles in immune evasion and tolerance. This glycoengineered line supports research into host-pathogen interactions and innate immune regulation.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target SIGLEC5
Full Name Sialic Acid Binding Ig Like Lectin 5
Alternative Name CD170, OBBP2, CD33L2, OB-BP2, SIGLEC-5, Sialic Acid Binding Ig Like Lectin
Location 19q13.41
Gene ID 8778
Summary This gene encodes a member of the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family. These cell surface lectins are characterized by structural motifs in the immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domains and sialic acid recognition sites in the first Ig V set domain. The encoded protein is a member of the CD33-related subset of Siglecs and inhibits the activation of several cell types including monocytes, macrophages and neutrophils. Binding of group B Streptococcus (GBS) to the encoded protein plays a role in GBS immune evasion.
