Clodronate Liposome (CAT#: CLBD001LY)

Description
Clodronate Liposome is a multilamellar liposome suspension in which clodronate is encapsulated in the aqueous compartments of the liposomes. When animals or cells are treated with Clodronate Liposome, phagocytic cells recognize the liposomes as invading foreign particles and proceed to remove the liposomes from the local tissue or serum via phagocytosis. The liposomes then release clodronate into the cytosol, resulting in cell death. Non-encapsulated clodronate cannot cross the cell membrane to initiate cell death.

FAQs Published Data Customer Reviews Related Sections
  1. How do Clodronate liposomes work?

Upon administration, Clodronate liposomes are recognized by phagocytic cells as foreign entities. These cells ingest the liposomes, which then release clodronate into the cytosol, leading to cell death.

  2. Why use Clodronate liposomes over non-encapsulated clodronate?

Clodronate encapsulated within liposomes can cross cell membranes via phagocytosis, which is not feasible with non-encapsulated clodronate, ensuring targeted cell death.

  3. What is the advantage of using Clodronate liposomes in research?

Clodronate liposomes offer a selective method to deplete phagocytic cells, facilitating studies on immune function and disease without affecting other cell types.

  4. Are there any specific storage conditions for Clodronate liposomes?

Clodronate liposomes should be stored at controlled room temperatures and protected from prolonged exposure to light to maintain stability and efficacy.

Clodronate treatment decreases F4/80-positive cells in extraction sockets

The research suggests that the introduction of clodronate-loaded liposomes has a significant impact on the concentration of F4/80+ macrophages within the extraction sockets. This phenomenon highlights the macrophages' instrumental role in the process of bone remodeling and healing. The observed decrease in macrophage count due to the clodronate-loaded liposomes correlates with a subsequent shift in osteoclast activity, which directly influences the bone dynamics throughout the healing trajectory.
