GlycoErase™ SIGLEC1 Knockout A549 Cell Line

GlycoErase™ SIGLEC1 knockout A549 cell line is a human lung epithelial cancer cell line in which SIGLEC1 expression has been eliminated. SIGLEC1 is a sialic acid-dependent adhesion molecule that mediates cell-cell interactions and is implicated in immune regulation and pathogen entry, including the enhancement of viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2. This knockout A549 model provides a valuable tool for studying viral infection mechanisms, glycan-mediated interactions, and immune modulation, and supports applications in drug discovery, antibody development, and host-pathogen research.

This gene encodes a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein is a lectin-like adhesion molecule that binds glycoconjugate ligands on cell surfaces in a sialic acid-dependent manner. It is a type I transmembrane protein expressed only by a subpopulation of macrophages and is involved in mediating cell-cell interactions. The protein plays an important role in multiple human diseases and bacterial and viral infections has been shown to enhance SARS-CoV-2 infection.
