Specifications
Product Description
The GlycoSens™ Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain Complex IV Assay Kit offers a highly reliable and sensitive spectrophotometric platform for quantifying mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV across varied biological matrices. Designed for rapid operation and high precision, this assay ensures reproducible quantification with low sample volume requirements.
Product Type
Oxidative Phosphorylation Series
Target
Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain Complex IV
Kit Components
Mitochondrial Isolation Buffer; Lysis Reagent; Protease Inhibitor Cocktail; Wash Buffer
Sample Types
Isolated mitochondria, cell lysates, tissue homogenates
Sample Volume
10 μL - 50 μL
Detection Principle
Complex IV catalyzes the oxidation of reduced cytochrome C into oxidized cytochrome C. Reduced cytochrome c absorbs strongly at 550 nm. Hence, the decrease rate of absorbance at 550 nm measures Complex IV enzyme activity.
Detection Time
Within 1 hour
Detection Wavelength
550 nm
Required Equipment & Materials (Self-provided by User)
Visible Spectrophotometer or Microplate Reader, glass/quartz cuvettes, microcentrifuge, water bath/incubator, adjustable micropipettes, double-distilled water.
Storage
Store at -20°C.
Shipping Conditions
Shipped with ice packs.
Target Information
Full Name
Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain Complex IV
Alternate Names
Complex IV; Mitochondrial Respiratory Chain Complex IV Standard; Cytochrome C Oxidase; Cyt c Oxidase
Application Notes
Background
The presence and activity of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV are closely linked to overall organismal health. It plays a critical role in cellular bioenergetics by maintaining the proton motive force across the inner mitochondrial membrane. Consequently, monitoring these changes is vital for evaluating bioenergetic efficiency and systemic resilience.
Application
Essential for monitoring mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV activity shifts during cellular respiration, terminal electron transfer signaling, and organelle bioenergetics research.
Key Features & Advantages
High Specificity; Excellent Reproducibility; Stringent Quality Control
Operating Instructions
1. Pre-Centrifugation of Vials: Prior to opening any reagent vials, perform a brief centrifugation to collect all powder or liquids at the bottom of the tubes.

2. Reagent Equilibration & Mixing: Allow all kit reagents and buffers to equilibrate to room temperature (25 °C) before initiating the assay.

3. Sample Storage: If samples are not assayed immediately, please store at -80 °C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
For Research Use Only.
