NBD-PI(4,5)P2

This is a fluorescently tagged version of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2), using the 7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazole (NBD) group as the probe. Phosphoinositides are essential membrane components, and PI(4,5)P2, in particular, functions as a critical lipid second messenger. It is known to play a fundamental part in regulating cellular processes, including modulating the coupling of G-protein coupled receptors and governing the release of calcium from internal cellular stores.
