| Target/Description | Isocitrate dehydrogenases are crucial enzymes that play a key role in cellular metabolism by converting isocitrate to α-ketoglutarate. However, mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenases 1 and 2 (IDH1 and IDH2) have been linked to the development of various types of cancer. Specifically, the IDH2(R140Q) mutation leads to the production of 2-hydroxy-glutarate (2-HG) instead of α-ketoglutarate, which can contribute to tumorigenesis. This mutation has been identified in several cancer types, including glioma, chondrosarcoma, acute myeloid leukemia, as well as a small percentage of prostate, lung, and colon cancers. |
