Target | SET8 |
Target/Description | SET8, also known as KMT5A, is a member of the SET domain-containing protein family. This protein specifically monomethylates H4K20me1 and also targets proteins such as p53 and PCNA. SET8 takes part in cell cycle regulation and DNA replication and repair mechanisms. Irregular expression levels of SET8 have been linked to cancer, and particularly high levels are evidenced in some such as breast cancer. Inhibition of SET8 has been seen to enhance cancer cell sensitivity to radiotherapy, making it of interest in creating targeted treatments. |
