Target/Description	Initially, cells are combined with molten agarose before being processed with a lysis buffer and alkaline solution to relax and denature the DNA. The samples are then electrophoresed in a horizontal chamber to distinguish between intact DNA and damaged fragments. Subsequently, the samples are dried, stained with a DNA dye, and observed using epifluorescence microscopy. Damaged DNA, which includes cleavage and strand breaks, migrates further than intact DNA, forming a distinctive "comet tail" shape.
